Post Description
In 1840 one man transformed travel in Britain. His name was George Bradshaw and his railway guides inspired the Victorians to take to the tracks. Stop by stop he told them where to go, what to see and where to stay.
Now 170 years later, Michael Portillo follows in the footsteps of the cartographic legend George Bradshaw as he embarks on four epic journeys across the country to see what of Bradshaw?s Britain remains.
Using George Bradshaw's 'Victorian Railway Guide', he travels throughout Britain exploring how the railways changed the country and what is left of Bradshaw's Britain today.
Each weeknight at 19:30 (C.E.T) on BBC2 this week the journey continues....
