Post Description

Red Riding is a television adaptation of English author David Peace"s Red Riding Quartet. Published between 1999 and 2002, the quartet comprises the novels Nineteen Seventy-Four (1999), Nineteen Seventy-Seven (2000), Nineteen Eighty (2001) and Nineteen Eighty-Three (2002). Set against a backdrop of *** murders, including the Yorkshire Ripper case, they deal with multi-layered corruption and feature several recurring characters across the four books. Though real crimes are featured the scripts are fictionalised and dramatised versions of events rather than contemporary factual accounts.

After six years of brutal murders, the West Yorkshire Police fear that they may have already interviewed the Ripper and let him back into the world to continue his reign of terror upon the citizens of Yorkshire. Things become more difficult for the police when they discover that a copycat killer is also at large. Assistant Chief Constable of the Manchester Police, Peter Hunter, is called in to oversee the West Yorkshire Police"s Ripper investigation and, with the help of John Nolan and Helen Marshall, both detectives from Greater Manchester Police, they decide to go back and look at the crime reports from the Ripper"s victims to see what they could have missed
